History

2005-06: Schenn debuted for the Rockets and played a solid season from the blue line.  In 60 games, Schenn tallied 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and 86 PIM.  He was the second leading rookie scorer on the Rockets roster.  He also led all Rockets rookies in PIM.  Schenn played in 12 playoff games, and seemed to struggle.  He failed to record a point and had a -3.

2006-07: Schenn took tremendous steps in becoming a top defenseman for the Rockets during his second season.  Playing in 72 games, Schenn led all Rockets defensemen in points with 29, and was second on the team in assists with 27 to go along with his two goals and team high 139 PIM.

2007-08: Schenn has had a very busy 2007-08 season.  He was a member of Team Canada at the Canada-Russia Super Series and also a member of the gold medal winning Canadian squad at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.  Schenn finished the tournament with a team high +/- of +5.  Schenn certainly has not allowed his international duties slow down his play for the Kelowna Rockets, improving upon his points per game average while chipping in a surprising seven goals, although he will never be known as a scoring machine.

Talent Analysis

Schenn plays a strong and physical defense.  Touted as a shut-down defenseman, Schenn is generally underrated offensively, an aspect of his skill set that is likely to materialize as he matures in professional hockey.

Future

He has the potential to become a shut down defender at the NHL level.
