Hockey's Future went online for the first time in 1997. Established as a 1-2 man staff covering many of the top young hockey prospects of tomorrow, HF now consists of over 30-40 writers who dedicate their free time to help make Hockey's Future what it is today. Here is a quick run down of the main contributors, and how they help make Hockey's Future the informative and great resource that it now is.
Ken McKenna, Managing Editor – Ken has been the Managing Editor for HF since 2003. He has been with Hockey's Future in varying capacities since 1998, covering hockey prospects at the NHL, AHL, NCAA, and Junior levels during that time period. In addition to his work for Hockey's Future, he also writes a blog for The Sporting News. Ken is a graduate from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Ian Altenbaugh, Web Content Editor – Starting with Hockey's Future in May of 2008, Ian began by covering the St. Louis Blues before taking over the coverage of his local Pittsburgh Penguins. He was named Web Content Editor in 2010. A graduate of the University of Slippery Rock in Western Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Creative Writing, Ian is an accomplished writer away from HF as well. He's had various works of fiction published as well as keeping a popular blog that has been featured on local Pittsburgh sports radio.
Holly Gunning, Writer – Holly was the Online Editor from 2003-2010 adn remains with HF as a writer. She has been with Hockey's Future since 2002 and has covered the NHL draft for the site in 2003 and 2004. She has written on hockey for a couple regional newspapers as well. Holly is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and also attended graduate school at Emory University.
Glen Erickson, Writer – A member of the writing staff since October 2005, Glen Erickson is the WHL writer for Hockey's Future.
Kevin Forbes, Writer – Joining the Hockey's Future team in August of 2002, Kevin provided coverage on the prospects of the Anaheim Ducks until 2008. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kevin has covered the QMJHL for the site since 2006.
Cory Lavalette, Writer – Based out of Raleigh, Cory has covered the Carolina Hurricanes for Hockey's Future since joining the team in the summer of 2007. He earned a degree in journalism from Utica College of Syracuse University and before joining a sports publishing company since 2001, he had experience working in the sports department for a handful daily newspapers.
Jason Menard, Writer – First joining the site in the fall of 2005, Jason Menard has helped provide consistent coverage of both the Montreal Canadiens and the OHL over the years.
DJ Powers, Writer – Providing excellent coverage of all NCAA prospects since 2002, DJ's work has been recognized across the college hockey map. An alumnus of a Division I school, DJ prefers to keep the particular one secret.
Leslie Treff, Writer – Leslie joined the Hockey's Future team in 2005 and she's primarily covered the New York Rangers and the OHL. Keeping homes in both New Jersey and Ontario, the former high school and collegiate athlete, also does scouting and family advising. Leslie has training in both law and journalism.
