About Us

Hockey's Future has been on the Internet since 1997. Established as a 1-2 man staff covering many of the top young hockey prospects of tomorrow, HF now consists of over 50-100 writers who dedicate their free time to help make Hockey's Future what it is today. Here is a quick run down of the main contributors, and how they help make Hockey's Future the informative and great resource that it now is.

Ken McKenna, Managing Editor
In addition to performing as Managing Editor for the site, Ken also covers Buffalo Sabres prospects. He has been with Hockey's Future in varying capacities since 1997 and has covered hockey at the NCAA, Juniors and AHL levels. Ken is a graduate from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

Holly Gunning, Online Editor
In addition to performing as Online Editor for the site, Holly also covers Atlanta Thrashers prospects and the ECHL. She has been with Hockey's Future since 2002 and has covered the NHL draft for the site in 2003 and 2004. She has written on hockey for a couple regional newspapers as well. Holly is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and also attended graduate school at Emory University.

Jeff Dahlia
Jeff came aboard with Hockey's Future in August of 2004 and quickly made his mark. Covering the Phoenix organization, Jeff has reported on Coyote prospects ranging from the European leagues to major junior hockey.

Guy Flaming
One of the most well respected members of the prospect journalism world, Guy has corresponded with nearly every important member of the Edmonton hockey scene while on the Oilers prospect beat. Formally joining Hockey's Future in May of 2003, Guy has written for or contributed to The Hockey News, The Edmonton Sports Scene newspaper, Edmonton Oilers ZONE Magazine, Hockey Alberta and International Scouting Services. In addition, Guy is also a weekly radio analyst for Edmonton's TEAM 1260 radio, co-host of TEAM 1260's Draft Day coverage and was color commentator for the Alberta College hockey internet broadcasts for the 2003-04 season.

Kevin Forbes
Kevin joined the Hockey's Future team in August of 2002 where he has provided in-depth coverage of Anaheim prospects at all stages of development. One of our younger members, Kevin works at Sport Nova Scotia as their Information Systems Coordinator.

Glen Jackson
Covering the Minnesota and Carolina organizations, Glen has been a contributor of Hockey's Future since February of 2004. He previously had worked as a writer for the Oakville Today newspaper and has also been published in the International Scouting Services 2004 Draft Guide and the official website of the Carolina Hurricanes. Glen has received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Pekka Lampinen
Pekka has been an invaluable member of hockey's Future since February of 2002. He lives in and covers the prospects of Finland for every NHL organization as well as those approaching their draft year. Pekka is pursuing his Master of Science degree in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics.

Matt MacInnis
Matt has spent several years working in print journalism, including a weekly sports column for the North Island Gazette of Port Hardy, British Columbia. Since joining in 2004, Matt has concentrated his efforts on QMJHL prospects but has also written for various team pages. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Canadian Studies at Mount Allison University.

Johan Nilsson
Johan is the guru of Swedish hockey prospects. Hockey's Future is proud to have Johan on board since 1998. Additionally, as the webmaster of his own site, www.EliteProspects.com, and contributor to www.hockeymagasinet.com, he provides meticulous coverage of all Swedish and foreign prospects playing in Sweden. Johan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Engineering from the Polytechnical College of Kalmar.

DJ Powers
Providing excellent coverage of all NCAA prospects since 2002, DJ's work has been recognized across the college hockey map. An alumnus of a Division I school, DJ prefers to keep the particular one secret.

David Rainer
Dave came aboard in February of 2003 where he covers Kings prospects at all levels of development including several articles on the economics of the game. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Economics from the University of California at Riverside and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. In addition to his work with Hockey's Future, his writing and research has been published in various philosophical and legal academic journals.

Jared Ramsden
Jared reports on New Jersey prospects from all levels of hockey. His engaging articles have been a mainstay with Hockey's Future since 2001. Jared received his Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies from Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta.

Simon Richard
Simon provides primary coverage of the QMJHL, but has also written on other topics ranging from the 2004 and 2005 WJC to draft philosophies. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Quebec University at Montreal. Simon has been with Hockey's Future since October of 2003 and continues his freelance writing career which includes the 2002 book "La Serie du Siecle, Septembre 1972" on the Summit Series. Simon has also contributed to the French radio channel on Radio Canada.
