The Islanders and Sound Tigers worked very hard to recover from slow starts in 2002-03 to get into contention and on the Islanders end, a poor start that found them six under 500. It took a winning streak that was their biggest in ten years to get into contention with an offense that did not look they have figured things out to date.
Bridgeport has lost a big lead it built up in November and will be in a tight race for playoff contention as well. They will not have several key players from a team that is much different than last year's Regular Season Champions.
With injury and depth problems at both the NHL and AHL levels, we will see what key prospects can do as the season is at the crossroads.
