Perreault and Maletto win TELUS player of the week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 5, 2007 – Acadie-Bathurst Titan forward Mathieu Perreault and Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender Kevin Maletto today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from October 29 to November 4.

In two games, Perreault scored two goals and added four assists while maintaining a +3 rating. He enjoyed his best outing of the week on Saturday as he scored twice and added three helpers in an 8-3 victory over the Victoriaville Tigres at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. Perreault collected his first goal on a penalty shot and was named the game’s second star. The Titan sniper is third in the League in scoring with 30 points.

Francis Paré (2-4-6) of Chicoutimi, Jonathan Laberge (4-2-6) of Cape Breton and Stefan Chaput (2-5-7) of Lewiston were also considered.

The defensive player of the week award goes to Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender Kevin Maletto. In three road games, Maletto registered three wins, including one by shutout, while maintaining an amazing 1.00 goals-against-average and .961 save percentage. The Shawinigan backtop helped his team net wins over the Voltigeurs, the Saguenéens and the Remparts. Over the three-game span, the Cataractes did not allow a powerplay goal in 17 chances.

Defensemen Hubert Labrie (0-0-0; +6) of Gatineau and Marc-Antoine Desnoyers (0-1-1; +4) of Acadie-Bathurst, as well as goaltender Travis Fullerton (1-1-0; 125 MIN; 1.44 GAA; .936 SAV %) of Saint John were also considered.
