Rising

Edgars Ulescenko  -- Riga LSPA

Pos: LW      Height: 5.11         Weight: 187

Draft sleeper! He possesses that innate ability to find seams in the defensive zone and capitalize on the opportunities that he garners from that trait. His competitiveness and his strong leadership are other traits that we love. He can score important goals to lift his team. Has very good speed, smart, soft hands, aggressive forechecker, good hockey sense. He developed his skills under personal control of Vladimir Ruzicka (former NHLer with Bruins and Ottawa).  For five years he has been coached in Slavia Prague organization in Czech Republic and now moved back home Latvia to be on the national team. He speaks English, which could be important for NHL clubs.

Greg Nemisz - Windsor

Position: C        Height: 6.03    Weight:  201

After finishing last season with 34 points and a -22 rating, this big player is putting up some big time points with 22 points in his first 19 games and is +10.

Zac Bogosian - Peterborough

Position: RD     Height: 6.02    Weight:  199

Smooth-skating defenseman has been pivotal in the Petes early season success.  Very smart with the puck and has a real knack for finding the open man in the offensive zone and getting the puck to him.

Luca Sbisa - Lethbridge

Position: LD     Height: 6.02    Weight:  197

Smooth skating defenseman from Switzerland has made quick adjustment to North American game with 15 points in first 18 games, which puts him in second place in WHL rookie scoring.

Teemu Hartikainen - Kalpa-T A

Position: LW     Height: 6.01    Weight:  198

Due to his ability to protect the puck, he makes room for other players. Hartikainen is captain-material,  keeping his performance steady every night. Gives some crucial hits when his team needs it.

Matt Pistilli - Gatineau Olympiques

Position: RW     Height: 6.02    Weight:  219

A player that was passed over in last year’s draft, might get a look this year.  Competes hard - willing to battle for position and for loose pucks.  Skating is below average, but makes up for deficiency in that area with effort.  Has good puck handling skills and shows a nice scoring touch around the net.

Evgeny Grachev - Yaroslavl Lokomotive-2

Position: C     Height: 6.03    Weight:  202

Power forward – Grachev is a big player who uses his size extremely well. He is tough to move off the net and does not lose balance after taking hits. He is very strong on puck and hard to stop when on rush. Can beat D with moves and size as well.

Matt Abercrombie - Sarnia Blast

Position: C       Height: 5.11    Weight:  160

Abercrombie is making the most of his second season with the Jr. B Sarnia Blast of the Western Ontario Hockey League. Abercrombie is second in the league in scoring with 13 goals and 14 assists in 19 games. A very smooth playmaker with great hands as well, he is a power play leader and an offensive threat in all situations. He is a student of the game and continues to work on all facets of his game.

John Carlson -- Indiana Ice (USHL)

Position: RD     Height: 6.02    Weight:  215

Has impressed ISS scouts with his early-season play. Currently leading all USHL d-men in scoring with 11 points in 12 games. His confidence and smarts are evident whenever he’s on the ice. He makes quick and smart decisions at high speed.

Kruise Reddick – Tri-City

Position: C        Height: 5.09    Weight:  165

Huge surprise. Smarts and skating are his attributes, along with puck skills. Versatile; plays special teams, can play any forward position - center is best, can play with anyone and make them better. He’s a bit undersized but is gritty. Reddick is definitely a NHL draft prospect -- size is not a concern because of his smarts and grit.

Zac  Dalpe - Penticton Vees

Position: C       Height: 6.00    Weight:  165

Big lanky forward impressed ISS with his performance at World Jr. A Challenge. Has a good frame to build on.  Despite lack of strength, showed willingness to battle for loose pucks and take a hit to make a play. A good skater, surprisingly quick, has an ability to beat the defender wide while maintaining control of the puck.

Falling

Alexandre Neron -- Rimouski Oceanic

Pos: RD    Height: 6.00   Weight: 182

Rimouski's 1st round pick, 6th overall in 2006 has been somewhat of a disappointment. ISS is starting to question his offensive instincts and hockey sense. Needs to get his offensive game going.

Michael Del Zotto - Oshawa

Position: LD     Height: 6.00    Weight:  208

After a solid rookie campaign where he established himself as a premier offensive rearguard, offensive production has slowed early this season.

Thomas McCullom - Guelph

Position: G     Height: 6.02    Weight:  208

Struggled early, but looks like he might be turning things around with three wins in his last four starts.

Adam Comrie -Saginaw Spirit

Position: LD     Height: 6.04    Weight:  205

Big player, still adjusting to OHL after spending last season in the USHL. Has a good frame but still needs to fill out. At times against the rush he would get caught playing too wide and give up the middle of the ice.
