Marchand and Bourdon win TELUS player of the week awards

In three games, Marchand scored three goals, including a game-winner, and added seven assists while maintaining a +3 rating. He enjoyed possibly the best performance of his major junior career yesterday, scoring a hat-trick and adding three helpers in an 8-6 victory over the Rimouski Océanic. Moreover, he notched his 20th goal of the season in front of Jean-Pierre Dumont, of the Nashville Predators, who was at the air Creebec Centre in Val-d’Or for the retirement of his no. 96 jersey.
Francis Paré (4-4-8) of the Saguenéens, Michael Frolik (0-8-8) of the Océanic and Ryan Sparling (2-5-7) of the Sea Dogs were also considered.
The defensive player of the week award goes to Rouyn-Noranda defenseman Marc-André Bourdon. In two games, Bourdon scored one goal and added five assists while maintaining a +4 rating. His best performance came on Saturday as he registered four helpers in a 7-3 win over the Rimouski Océanic. He was named the game’s first star. Bourdon leads all League defenseman with a +14 rating. The Huskies are atop the TELUS division standings with a total of 45 points in 32 games.
Goaltenders Bobby Nadeau (2-1-1; 125 MIN; 1.44 GAA; .933 SAV%) of the Saguenéens and Travis Fullerton (2-2-0; 120 MIN; 1.50 GAA; .956 SAV%) of the Sea Dogs as well as defenseman Mathieu Bolduc (1-3-4; +7) of the Saguenéens were also considered.
