Guelph’s McCollum named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

The Sanborn, New York native celebrated his 18th birthday by turning aside 22 of 23 shots in a 3-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Friday. He made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season and was named first star in a 3-0 win over the Sarnia Sting on Saturday and made 21 saves and was named second star in a 3-1 win over the Spirit on Sunday.
McCollum, the OHL’s top-rated goaltending prospect for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, improved his season record to 8-9-2-2 with a 2.80 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in 22 games.
Joey Perricone of the Moose Jaw Warriors was the WHL nominee for the award after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a 0.50 goals against average and .981 save percentage and one shutout in two games. Marc-Antoine Gelinas of the PEI Rocket was the QMJHL nominee after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a 2.00 goals against average and .943 save percentage in three starts.
