Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey league today announced the NAPA Draft Prospects of the Month for December 2007.
Each month the Canadian Hockey League & NAPA Auto Parts will recognize the top draft eligible player from each of the three leagues in the CHL for the upcoming 2008 NHL Entry Draft based on their play over the course of the month. Each winner will be recognized at a future home game and will be presented with a NAPA Auto Parts prize pack.
NAPA Draft Prospects of the Month – December 2007
Western Hockey League – Tyler Ennis, Medicine Hat Tigers
Ennis scored six goals and 14 assists for 20 points in 11 games last month, including back-to-back four point games to close out the month. The 18-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta leads the Tigers with 23 goals and 32 assists for 55 points in 42 games. He was rated fifth among WHL prospects in the Preliminary Draft Rankings released by NHL Central Scouting in November.
Ontario Hockey League – Cody Hodgson, Brampton Battalion
Hodgson was the OHL’s top goal scorer in December with 11 goals to go along with five assists for 16 points in 11 games. Hodgson, a 17-year-old native of Markham, Ontario, leads his team with 27 goals and 28 assists for 55 points in 40 games this season. He was rated fifth among OHL prospects in the Preliminary Draft Rankings released by NHL Central Scouting in November.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League – Marco Scandella, Val-d’Or Foreur
The 17-year-old Montreal, Quebec native scored one goal and six assists for seven points and was plus-2 in nine games last month. Scandella, a 6’2”, 195 pound defenceman, improved his season scoring totals to two goals and seven assists for nine points in 41 games.
