Tavares named Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week

After helping Canada win the gold medal at the World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic earlier this month, Tavares returned to the Generals and scored two goals and an assist in a 10-4 win over the Ottawa 67’s on Thursday. He scored again in a 4-3 win over Ottawa on Friday and finished the week with a goal and four assists in a 10-8 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday. It was his fourth five-point game of the year.
Tavares, a 17-year-old Oakville native, won the OHL’s player of the week award for the third time this season and sixth time in his OHL career. He is third in the OHL scoring race with 28 goals and 49 assists for 77 points in 33 games this season.
