Rebels’ James Reimer Named BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is goaltender James Reimer of the Red Deer Rebels.

Reimer posted a 2-1 record in three appearances over the last week for the Rebels, allowing only four goals on 116 shots for a 1.31 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage in that span.

On Wednesday, January 9th, Reimer stopped 28 of 30 shots he faced and was named the game’s 3rd star as the Rebels fell 2-0 to visiting Saskatoon.

On Friday, January 11th, Reimer turned aside all 46 shots he faced to post his first shutout of the season as the Rebels managed a 3-0 victory over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors. Reimer was named the game’s 1st star for his outstanding performance.

On Saturday, January 12th, Reimer stopped 38 of 40 shots he faced through 65 minutes of regulation and overtime, and denied two of three shootout attempts to lead the Rebels to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes in Lethbridge. Reimer was named the game’s 3rd star.

Reimer, a 19-year-old from Arborg, MB, is in his third season in the WHL with the Rebels. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 4th round, 99th overall, at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Reimer is also the WHL nominee for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week award.
