Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Michael Swift of the Niagara IceDogs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday February 10 after scoring six goals and three assists for nine points in three games.
After playing in the OHL All-Star Classic last week in Sault Ste. Marie, Swift returned to the IceDogs with a bang, scoring three goals and two assists and was the first star in an 8-2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Thursday. After being held off the score sheet in a 2-1 win over the London Knights on Friday, Swift scored his second hat trick of the week and added an assist in a 5-2 win over the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors on Sunday. He was named the first start of the game. The 20-year-old native of Peterborough, ON, improved his season totals to 25 goals and 49 assists for 74 points in 53 games.
T.J. Fast of the Tri City Americans was the WHL nominee after scoring three goals and four assists for seven points in four games and Mathieu Perreault of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan was the QMJHL nominee after scoring three goals and six assists for nine points in four games.
