Hutchinson named Boston Pizza Player of the Week

The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Barrie Colts’ goaltender Michael Hutchinson is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week after allowing just one goal in two wins that helped the Colts defeat the Brampton Battalion in the opening round of the OHL playoffs. Hutchinson finished the week with a 2-0 record, a 0.43 goals against average and .990 save percentage.

Hutchinson started the week with 62 saves, including 16 in overtime to back the Colts to a 2-1 win in Game 5 of the series on Tuesday and then stopped all 34 shots he faced in a 2-0 win in the series’ clincher on Thursday. He was the first star in both games.

The 18-year-old Barrie native is 4-1 in the playoffs with a 1.44 goals against average and .965 save percentage after going 12-15-2-2 with a 3.02 goals against average and .912 save percentage in 32 regular season games.
