Mooseheads’ Marchand named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Brad Marchand of the Halifax Mooseheads is the CHL Player of the Week after scoring one goal and adding five assists for six points to go along with a plus-4 plus-minus rating in two playoff games.

Marchand scored the tying goal and chipped in with a pair of assists in a 4-2 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in Game 1 of their second round playoff series on Friday and then set up three goals in a 5-4 win over Cape Breton in Game 2 on Saturday. Marchand was the first star in both games.

The 19-year-old from Halifax, NS is tied for third among playoff scorers in the QMJHL with two goals and 12 assists for 14 points in eight games.

Kootenay Ice defenceman Chad Greenan was the WHL nominee after picking up four assists in two games last week and Kitchener Rangers’ goaltender Steve Mason was the OHL nominee after going 2-0 with a 0.70 goals against average and .980 save percentage in two games last week.
