Spitfires’ Engelage named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Andrew Engelage of the Windsor Spitfires is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week after going 2-0-0-0 including a shutout win for the week ending September 28.

Engelage, a 19-year-old from Oshawa, ON, was named the second star after stopping all 23 shots he faced in a 5-0 win Thursday night over the Sarnia Sting.  One night later he helped the Spitfires defeat the London Knights on the road 4-2 making 28 saves.  Engelage currently leads all OHL goaltenders in wins with 4 and is among the league leaders in goals-against-average with 1.75 and save percentage at .933.  Engelage is a previous OHL nominee for this award.

Jake Allen of the Montreal Juniors was the QMJHL nominee after earning two wins in two games posting a 1.50 goals-against-average and a .955 save percentage including a 31 save performance in a 5-0 shutout win Sunday over the Gatineau Olympiques.  16-year-old Everett Silvertips’ rookie goaltender Kent Simpson was the WHL nominee playing to perfection in his league debut Friday night.  Simpson went 1-0-0-0 this week with a 28 save shutout win beating the Portland Winter Hawks 2-0.
