Oshawa Generals to Host 2009 Home Hardware CHL-NHL Top Prospects Game

The Canadian Hockey League, Oshawa Generals Hockey Club, and Home Hardware today announced that on January 14, 2009, Oshawa will play host to the 2009 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at the General Motors Centre.  The 2009 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is the annual showcase of the top draft eligible players from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and features the next wave of future NHL stars from across the Canadian Hockey League.

The two-day event kicks off on Tuesday January 13 with a thrilling skills competition where players can show-off their individual abilities for fans and scouts alike.

“The Canadian Hockey League is pleased to award the 2009 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game to the city of Oshawa and the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club.  The Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is one of our showcase events that we look forward to each season and is always exciting for our fans,” said CHL President, David Branch.

The long list of NHL stars that have participated in the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game includes Patrick Kane, Dion Phaneuf, Roberto Luongo, Patrick Marleau, Scott Gomez, and Marc-Andre Fleury.  Steve Stamkos recorded a goal and an assist in the 2008 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects game in Edmonton before being selected first overall at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay LightningMichael Del Zotto of the Oshawa Generals also participated in the game and was selected in the first round, 20th overall by the New York Rangers at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
