Although not as heralded as some of his defensive mates on Team USA's squad competing at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship, defenseman Brandon Fortunato has been an effective player for the NTDP squad during the 2013-14 season.
Fortunato and his USA teammates weren't effective enough in the first game of the U18, however, dropping a 4-2 decision to Switzerland in the opening game of the tournament. Fortunato chipped in the primary assist on the opening goal of the game by Jack Dougherty, but the U.S. would fail to cash in on any chances after the first period.
For the 2013-14 season, Fortunato split time between the NTDP squad competing in the USHL and the U18 national team. He has committed to play at Harvard University, although he hasn't yet settled on whether it will be this coming fall or the fall of 2015.
Fortunato talked to Hockey's Future following the loss to Switzerland, a conversation captured in this HF video.
