Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Marcus Carroll of the Owen Sound Attack is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 11. Carroll scored four goals and four assists for eight points with a plus-minus rating of plus-7 in three games.
Carroll began his week last Wednesday with a third star performance with one goal and two assists despite a 6-5 overtime loss to the Guelph Storm. On Friday night Carroll notched two assists in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Erie Otters. The two teams faced off again Saturday night and it was Carroll that led the offensive charge scoring his first hat-trick of the season and was named the first star of the game for the Attack who beat the Otters 6-3.
Carroll, who today turns 20-years-old, is in his fourth season in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack. The Ajax, Ontario native is third in scoring with the Attack with 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points in 41 games played.
Also considered for the award this week was Nazem Kadri of the London Knights who scored one goal and six assists for seven points in three games highlighted by a four-assist night and first star of the game honours Friday in a 6-1 win over the Oshawa Generals. Kadri also competed in the 2009 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game for Team Cherry. Carroll’s teammate in Owen Sound, Josh Moes, had a strong week for the Attack with three goals and four assists for seven points in three games highlighted by a hat-trick Friday night in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Erie Otters where he was named first star of the game.
