Taranto had a huge week as the Force went on the road to gain two important home wins and keep their slim hold on second place in the West Division. On Friday, he had two goals and two assists in a 6-2 win over Tri-City in Grafton, N.D. The next night he scored three times and added two assists in a 6-0 win over the Storm in Grand Forks, N.D. He had 17 shots on goal and was +3.

CCM Defensive Player of the Week

Torey Krug Indiana Ice

College: Michigan State
NHL: Undrafted

Krug had another solid week at both ends of the rink, helping the Ice jump back into first place in the East Division and in the race for the Anderson Cup. On Wednesday, he set up the first two goals of the game in a 5-3 win over Waterloo. Friday night, he again set up the first two goals of the game for the Ice in their 4-0 win at Green Bay. He went without a point in Saturday’s 5-3 win over Chicago. He finished the week +2.

Stauber’s Goaltender of the Week

Brett Bennett Indiana Ice

NHL: Phoenix (Round 5, 2006)

The Ice regained first place in the race for the Anderson Cup, with Bennett playing a huge part. Bennett made 24 saves in a 5-3 win at Waterloo on Wednesday. On Friday, he was perfect, making 25 saves in a 4-0 win at Green Bay. Saturday, he made 25 saves in a 5-3 win vs. Chicago. For the week, Bennett was 3-0-0 with a 2.00 goals against average, a .925 save percentage and one shutout.
