Hazen and Tardif win the TELUS player of the week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, September 28, 2009 - Val-d’Or Foreurs forward Jonathan Hazen and Drummondville Voltigeurs goaltender Antoine Tardif today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from September 21 to 27.

Hazen registered two goals and six helpers in four games for the Foreurs. Moreover, all of his points were collected on the road. The right-winger put forth his best effort on Saturday with a four-point output in a 7-4 victory over the Drakkar. His offensive explosion helped him secure the top spot in the QMJHL scoring standings with 14 points. Finally, he posted a +4 rating.

Philippe Cornet (Huskies), Maxime Sauvé (Foreurs) and Gabriel Bourque (Drakkar) were also considered.

On defence, Antoine Tardif is the award-winner after backstopping his team to wins over the Remparts and the Titan. During that span, he posted a 0.96 goals-against-average and .961 save percentage. The Voltigeurs are the only undefeated team in the the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. They have won their first six games and are atop the League standings with 12 points.

David Savard (Wildcats), Marco Cousineau (Rocket) and Kevin Poulin (Tigres) were also strong candidates.
