BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, October 26, 2009 – Two defensemen captured the awards this week. Charles-Olivier Roussel of the Shawinigan Cataractes and Yann Sauvé of the Saint John Sea Dogs today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from October 19 to 25.

Roussel tallied two goals and five assists while posting a +1 rating in four games. He ended up recording all seven of his points with the man-advantage by galvanizing a power-play which capitalized on 36% of its opportunities. After winning three of their last four games, the Cataractes have risen to the number three spot in the TELUS Central Division standings.

Marc-Olivier Vachon (Voltigeurs), Éric Faille (Titan) and Tomas Kubalik (Tigres) were also considered.

On defence, Yann Sauvé takes home the award after several dominant performances. In three Sea Dogs victories, Sauvé collected one goal and four assists. Moreover, the bruising back-liner posted a remarkable +8 rating and recorded ten hits. Following five consecutive wins, Saint John has taken over the top spot in the Atlantic Division standings.

Kevin Poulin (Tigres), Louis Domingue (Wildcats) and Marc-Antoine Gélinas (Sea Dogs) were also strong candidates.
