Greyhounds’ Robin Lehner Named CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Robin Lehner of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season.  For the week ending January 31, Lehner won two games including a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 0.500 and a save percentage of .983.

Lehner tied the OHL lead with his fourth shutout of the season on Saturday night in Belleville when he stopped 23 shots in a 6-0 win over the Bulls as third star of the game.  His week finished on Sunday when he was named first star of a 3-1 win on the road against the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors making 34 saves in a 3-1 win.

Lehner, an 18-year-old from Gothenburg, Sweden, is playing in his first OHL season with the Greyhounds.  He currently has a record of 17-9-0-3 with a goals-against-average of 2.79 and save percentage of .916.  The second round pick of the Ottawa Senators at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft competed for the Western Conference All-Stars at the 2010 OHL All-Star Classic.

Also considered this week was Evan Mosher of the PEI Rocket who won two games posting a goals-against-average of 1.50 and save percentage of .943.  Kraymer Barnstable of the Red Deer Rebels was perfect making 40 saves in two appearances earning a shutout victory Saturday as third star of a 5-0 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.
