Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Joey Hishon of the Owen Sound Attack is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 2.  In three games Hishon recorded 11 points scoring five goals with six assists and a plus-minus rating of plus-2.

Hishon’s week was highlighted by a five-point game on New Year’s Day scoring two goals, including the game-winner, and adding three assists as first star of a 6-5 win over the Ottawa 67’s.  He also produced six points in a two-game home-and-home matchup against the Barrie Colts scoring a goal and an assist last Tuesday in a 7-6 shootout win, before scoring twice and adding two assists Wednesday in an 8-5 win over the Colts.

Hishon, a 19-year-old from Stratford, ON, is currently sixth in OHL scoring with 53 points in 27 games played so far in his fourth OHL season with the Attack.  Hishon was selected 17th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche

Lethbridge Hurricanes’ forward Austin Fyten and Lukas Cingel of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar were both considered for the award.  Fyten scored four goals and six assists for 10 points in four games, while Cingel scored three goals and three assists for six points in three games.
