The preliminary round for Team Switzerland at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament was mostly one to forget. The Swiss dropped all three games, including a 9-2 loss to Canada on Wednesday to close out the opening round. The loss sends Switzerland into the seventh place game against Slovakia.
Leading the way for the Swiss both in scoring and on defense has been Livio Stadler. Stadler has posted a goal and three assists through three games, and he has easily been one of the more effective players for Switzerland at this tournament.
Stadler competes for EV Zug, one of five players from that organization to earn a berth on the Ivan Hlinka squad. He competed for Zug’s U20 squad, scoring two goals and 16 points in 35 games in 2014-15. At this early stage, Stadler appears to be a top talent out of Switzerland for the 2016 NHL Draft.
Hockey’s Future spoke with Stadler after his team’s loss to Canada, with his comments being included in this HF video.
