Hitmen’s WHITE Named BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Ryan White of the Calgary Hitmen.

White picked up 10 points, scoring a balanced five goals and five assists to go with a +9 rating in four games over the last week, helping the Hitmen post a 4-0 record in that span.

On Tuesday, January 29th, long time rivals the Kootenay Ice travelled into Calgary to take on the Hitmen at the Saddledome, in the first half of a home and home series. White picked up one goal in the Hitmen’s 5-1 victory over the Ice. The next evening, Wednesday, January 30th, the Hitmen rolled into Cranbrook to close out the home and home series. White netted 2 goals, including the game winner, and 3 assists as the Hitmen downed the Kootenay Ice 6-3. He was also named the games 1st Star.

Two nights later, Friday, February 1st, the Hitmen were back at the Saddledome playing host to the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings. White scored one goal as the Hitmen shut-out the Oil Kings 4-0.

On Saturday, February 2nd, the Calgary Hitmen wrapped up their ‘four games in five nights’, at The Arena in Medicine Hat, taking on the Tigers. White notched one goal and two assists as the Hitmen defeated the home team Tigers 4-1. He was also named the games 1st Star.

White, a Brandon, Manitoba native, is in his fourth season as a forward with the Calgary Hitmen. White was drafted at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, in the 3rd round – 66th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens.

The WHL has also nominated Riku Helenius of the Seattle Thunderbirds for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week Award.
