The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the TELUS three stars of the week for the period extending from Monday, March 7th to Sunday, March 13th, 2011.
The left-winger of the Gatineau Olympiques, Tye McGinn, receives the first star of the week. He distinguished himself in two games, registering 7 points with 5 goals and a +2 rating. The 6’03’’ Fergus, Ontario native missed 12 games due to a broken foot, but came back strong this weekend against the Lewiston MAINEiacs. The 20 year-old forward also recorded a hat trick last Sunday at the start of the third period.
The second star of the week is awarded to Peter Sakaris of the Shawinigan Cataractes. The left-winger collected 8 points in 3 games with a +5 rating. He was named first star in games against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Victoriaville Tigres.
Jacob Gervais-Chouinard of the Val-d’Or Foreurs gets the third star of the week. The goalie had a save percentage of 0.961 with a shutout and a 0.96 goals against average.
