The anticipation in Detroit for the debut of newly-signed prospect Dylan Larkin had been building leading up to the Detroit Red Wings 2015-16 home opener. And, while teammate Justin Abdelkader stole the show with a hat trick, Larkin gave the fans a preview of what they hope will be a productive career in the red-and-white with his first NHL goal and assist as the Red Wings defeated the Mike Babcock-coached Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-0.

With Detroit leading 2-0 to start the second period, Red Wings defenseman Mike Green gained control of the puck in his own zone before moving it to forward Henrik Zetterberg. Zetterberg dashed through center before passing to his left to a streaking Larkin, who skated into the Toronto zone on the left wing.
