A medal wasn’t in the cards for the Czech Republic at the 2012 World Junior Championship. But the team did improve their standing at this tournament, going from a seventh place finish last year to a fifth place finish in 2012. It appears that the national program is headed in the right direction, although there is more work to do to make the Czechs a medal contender once again.
Czech assistant coach Jiri Fischer commented on his team’s play following their 5-2 win over Slovakia.
