Baby Leafs complete preseason with win

HOUSE LEADS MAPLE LEAFS PAST SAINT JOHN FLAMES

Club Finishes Preseason with a 3-1-0 Record

Bobby House scored three goals and added an assist to lead the St. John’s Maple Leafs past the Saint John Flames 4-1 tonight in American Hockey League preseason action. Michael Hakansson scored the other goal for the Maple Leafs, while Michael Travnicek recorded 2 assists. David Cooper also recorded an assist, giving him points in all four preseason games. The Maple Leafs were outshot 34-29 by the Flames with Mike Minard making 33 saves to record the win.

The game was scoreless after one period and the Maple Leafs led 1-0 after two periods. St. John’s was 1 for 7 on the powerplay, while Saint John was 0 for 7. The win gave St. John’s a 3-1-0 record in 4 preseason games. The club now returns home to play its first game of the 2000-2001 AHL season on Friday, October 6 against the Saint John Flames.
