Islanders Recall D Anders Myrvold from Springfield.

Myrvold is expected to see action againt Tampa Bay tonight as the team will dress seven defenseman.

Some Background on Anders Myrvold:
The Islanders signed Myrvold in August and was part of a few early preseason games. He was sent to Springfield of the AHL, which is a Phoenix Coyote affiliate.

Myrvold played last season with AIK, posting one goal, four points and 87 penalty minutes in 49 games. Originally the Quebec Nordiques’ sixth choice in the 1993 draft, Myrvold made his NHL debut with the Colorado Avalanche in 1995-96. The next season, he was dealt along with Landon Wilson to the Boston for the Bruins’ first round pick in the 1998 Draft.

Known for his aggressive playing style, Myrvold played one season of major junior in 1994-95 with the Laval Titan of the Quebec League after coming over from Europe. In 64 games, he posted 14 goals, 64 points and 173 penalty minutes. In his three full seasons in the AHL between 1995-1998, the defenseman posted penalty minute totals of 125,107 and 91.
