Brad Defauw scored two power-play goals and assisted on another to lead the Cincinnati Cyclones to a 7-4 victory over the Cleveland Lumberjacks. Defauw’s tally at 19:14 of the second period was the first of four unanswered goals scored by Cincinnati, which overcame a 4-3 deficit to win its second game in as many days. Ian MacNeil, who scored twice in the Cyclones 3-1 triumph over Houston on Friday, collected a shorthanded goal at 4:41 of the third period to snap a 4-4 tie. Stefan Ustorf had a goal and two assists and Corey Hirsch made 34 saves for the Cyclones. Brian Bonin scored twice in the second period for Cleveland. Zac Bierk, who entered the game with the second-best goals against average in the league at 2.43, was scored upon six times for the Lumberjacks, who fell to 10-4 at home.

Kansas City Blades   3

Greg Hawgood and Vadim Sharifijanov scored three minutes apart in the first period to lead the Kansas City Blades past the Milwaukee Admirals, 3-1. Hawgood, who joined Kansas City on December 6 after clearing waivers, gave the Blades a 1-0 lead 4:33 into the first period off a feed from Josh Holden. Sharifijanov tallied his fifth goal of the season on the power play three minutes later and Ryan Ready capped the scoring with 5:35 remaining in the third. Steve Kariya added a pair of assists and Alfie Michaud stopped 19 shots in the win for Kansas City, which improved to 4-5-0 on its current 11-game homestand. Sean Haggerty provided the offense for Milwaukee with a shorthanded goal in the first period. Alex Westlund turned aside 30 shots in the loss as the Admirals lost their fourth straight.

Scott Thomas scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the second period, as the Manitoba Moose edged the Utah Grizzlies, 2-1. Thomas, who opened the scoring 4:46 into the game with his eighth goal of the season, broke a 1-1 tie with 6:45 left in the second to give him 18 points over his last 15 games. Johan Hedberg stopped 25 shots for Manitoba, which increased its West Division lead over Utah to four points. Jeff Shevalier scored the lone goal for the Grizzlies early in the second period and Mike Bales suffered the loss despite making 37 saves as Utah fell to 7-8-0 on the road this season.
