The NHL All-Star Game is February 5, 2000 in Toronto.
The NHL will be using two referees in every game starting next season.

Even with blowout losses in their last two games the Kings still hold the NHL’s best road record at 9-6-3-1-22.

LW Luc Robitaille is not just a favorite of the Kings fans but the fans of the Hull Olympiques as well. He was recently given a heroes welcome when he returned to the Robert Guertin Arena to have his No 15 jersey retired.

The NHL board of governors dismissed the motion of conference only play. Some organizations who were proponents of the plan wanted to increase the regional rivalries and to save on travel costs but they couldnt gain enough support.

The Kings will be replacing the retired jerseys of Dave Taylor [No 18] Rogie Vachon [No 30] and Marcel Dionne [No 16] with larger jerseys. This was done so that fans could easly view them in the much larger Staples Center. The date is still to be determined when the Kings will retire Wayne Gretzky [No 99] jersey.

Former Kings owner Jeffrey Sudikoff was sentenced to federal prison for one year and a day for insider trading trading. Sudikoff will begin serving his sentence on Jan 28. In addition to the prison time he was fined $3 million.

Former Kings owner Bruce McNall is currently serving his 70 month sentence in Arizona but it is expected that he will be released in 11 months due to his good behavior.

The Kings have signed General Manager Dave Taylor to a new multi-year extension. The Kings didnt release the terms of the new extension but pervious reports have stated that its a three year deal. Also of note was that his extension included bonuses that are tied into the Kings revenues and expenses. He wants to be judged by the results in the stands as well as the ice.

The rinkside glass at the Staples Center will be replaced to improve the view for the fans. The distorted view was caused by the production process and the differences between the Great Western Forum and the Staples Center.

GM Dave Taylor was ecstatic after seeing goaltending prospect Alexey Volkov in the minors. He stated that Volkov is probably four years away.

Finnish prospect D Jere Karalahti was the best defenseman in Europe last year and thought of as one of the Kings top six defenseman. That was prior to Karalahti problems getting a visa to enter the United States. Karalahti visa was held up because of a prior conviction for drug possession. He has gone through drug rehabilitation and has passed every drug test given him since that time. His visa was finally approved after 10 different meetings between lawyers and government officials on two continents. It still caused Karalahti to miss all of training camp and the start of the season. According to Kings coach Andy Murray Karalahti will be the Kings “eight defensman”. John Wolf, assistant to the general manager, is currently in negotiations with canadian officals to obtain a visa for Karalahti to play teams in Canada.

The Kings are reportedly refusing to put their young prospects on the trading block.
