Defenceman Kent Huskins helped Clarkson to a 4-1 over Vermont on Friday as he had two assists. The 1998 draftpick has a total of 5 goals and 26 assists in 31 games… Austrian forward Matthias Trattnig had two assists as he helped his Maine to a 4-2 win over Providence. The senior has now scored 9 goals and added 10 assists for 19 points in 31 games… Freshman goalie Adam Berkhoel won his 7th game of the season as he made 29 saves in Denver’s 8-2 win over Minnesota-Duluth. Berkhoel improved his record to 7-4-1 with a 2.89 GAA… After losing four straight, goalie Michael Leighton picked up his 27th win on Friday as Windsor won 5-1 over Guelph. Leighton made 31 saves and his record now stands at 27-12-4 with a 2.78 GAA…

Kent Huskins (5+27 in 32 games) had an assist as he helped Clarkson to a 4-2 win over Dartmouth on Saturday. With the win Clarkson captured the ECAC regular-season title and will host Vermont in the first playoff-round… Forward Mattias Wennerberg scored once and added an assist as his Boden won 6-3 over Tierp lastnight. Wennerberg, who has scored 5 points (3+2) in his last 3 games, has a total of 9 goals and 4 assists in 27 games… Forward Tyler Arnason scored his 24th goal of the season and added two assists in St. Clouds 5-2 win over Minnesota and now has 45 points (24+21) in 36 games… Goalie Michael Leighton followed up his 31 saves performance on Friday with a 30 saves performance lastnight as he lead his Windsor to a 4-1 win over Owen Sound. With the win Leighton won his 28th game (28-12-4) and lowered his GAA to 2.74…


Matthias Trattnig scored once and added an assist as Maine beat Northeastern 6-3 on Friday. With the win Maine advanced to the second round of the Hockey East tournament… Forward Tyler Arnason and his St Cloud lead their first-round series (WCHA Tournament) 1-0 after winning 5-1 on Friday. Arnason, who has 24 goals and 24 assists, helped out with three assists… Defenceman Kent Huskins had one assist, and is still on a point-per-game pace, as his Clarkson lost the opening game in the Hockey East tournament. Top-ranked Clarkson fell 5-3 to Vermont, Game 2 is tonight… Norfolk got two goals from Geoff Peters and a goal and two assists from Ajay Baines as they won 4-2 over Quebec lastnight. Goalie Jeff Maund made 28 saves to improve to 15-10-4 while Mark Bell, Nolan Baumgartner and Mike Souza all had an assist…

Tyler Arnason had one assist as St Cloud won the second game over Alaska-Anchorage (8-2) on Saturday and moved on to WCHA Final Five. Arnason has scored 24 goals and added 25 assists for 49 points… Defenceman Kent Huskins and his Clarkson pushed their series with Vermont to a winner-takes-all Game 3 on Sunday by winning 3-2 in double overtime lastnight. Huskins assisted on the game-winner, which was scored with seven seconds to play in the fifth period, and now has 34 points (5+29) in 34 games… Forwards Aaron Downey and Casey Hankinson each scored a goal and added an assist as Norfolk beat Quebec (5-3) for the second night in-a-row. The Admirals, who scored five unanswered goals in the third, also got goals from Josef Marha, Geoff Peters and defenceman Jeff Paul while goalie Jeff Maund won his 16th game (16-10-4) as he made 23 saves…

Kent Huskins and his top-ranked Clarkson did not survive the first round of the ECAC Tournament as they lost to Vermont (3-2 in overtime) in Game 3 on Sunday. Huskins scored the Knight’s first goal and has 6 goals and 29 assists in 35 games… Forward Casey Hankinson scored both of Norfolks goals as they lost to Philadelphia (3-2) in overtime lastnight. Hankinson leads the team in goals with 29 and points with 49… Goalie Michael Leighton won his 29th game on Sunday as Windsor beat Sault Ste Marie 9-2. With the win Leighton improved to 29-13-5 with a 2.77 GAA… Sergei Shikhanov scored as Metallurg won their opening game 5-1 in the Russian playoffs against Mechel on Sunday. Shikhanov finished the regular season with 8 points (4+4) in 24 games…

2000 draftpick Pavel Vorobiev scored twice during regulation and then scored the decisive penaltyshot to lead Yaroslavl to a 4-3 win and a tie in their best-of-five first round series with AK Bars. AK Bars jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Alexei Tertyshny and Alexei Chupin before Vorobiev struck at the 8:32 mark of the first period to make it a 2-1 game. The goal was setup by Alexander Skugarev who snapped a wristshot from just inside the blueline, AK Bars goalie Andrei Tsarev gave up a rebound and Vorobiev battled free from the defencemen to tuck in the puck. Mikhail Balandin made it a 2-2 game early in the second before Vorobiev put Yaroslavl up by one as he scored his second of the night at the 40:29 mark.

Yuri Dobryshkin then tied it up and sent it to overtime as he scored with just over four minutes to play. The OT went scoreless and the game had to be decided by penaltyshots. The teams traded two goals in the first four rounds before Sergei Zolotov missed for AK Bars in the fifth round and giving Vorobiev a chance to win the game. The Russian forward skated in on Tsarev, deked him to the right, went left and put the puck upstairs for a 4-3 win. Game 3 and 4 will be played Wednesday and Thursday in Yaroslavl.
