The Pittsburgh Forge and NAHL Update

The Pittsburgh Forge lost a showdown Friday night with the Compuware
Ambassadors dropping the game 5-2. The Ambassadors held a commanding 3-0
lead after 2 periods when the Forge started to make a comeback. Andy Brandt
scored a shorthanded goal 30 seconds into the 3rd period to draw the Forge
within 2. Bernie Chmiel popped one in at the 4 minute mark to make a 3-2
game but the comeback fell short and Compuware added 2 empty net goals to
make the final 5-2. The Forge were 0 for 7 on the power-play and out shot
32-28. On Saturday afternoon the Forge went to Ann Arbor and defeated the
USA Under-18 team 3-2. Dylan Reese scored once and Carson Strang tallied two
goals including the game winner. Tim Heneroty was strong in the Forge net.
They remained in 2nd place 6 points behind the Division leader Compuware who
also won Saturday.

PITTSBURGH PROSPECTS NAMED TO TOP PROSPECT TOURNEY

The USA Hockey Top Prospects Tournament features three separate all-star
teams made up of players from the top three Junior ‘A’ leagues in the United
States – AWHL, NAHL, USHL and an At-Large Team (Team TPT). Each league will
send a 17-man roster made up of top American-born players to compete at the
round-robin format tournament. The At-large Team (Team TPT) will be
comprised of players from each league and several players from the USNTDP
and will be announced at a later date. The Top Prospects Tournament will be
held at the Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, MI, December 3-5, 2001.
