Group A

Czech Republic – Sweden 1:2

Czech team really wanted to win this game and they played well. It was a physical game with a
lot of skating on both sides. The first one to score was Ales Hemsky. He was given an accurate
pass by Jiri Hudler. Czech team had the goal not to play against Canada and after the tying goal by Hedlund Czechs
tried extremely hard. In the final power play Czechs failed to score and Jamtin had no problems
to score in the open net. Even though Czechs were last in the Group A they will face Finland in
the quarter-final.

Slovakia – USA 4:4

Very interesting first period was played in Pardubice. It was a very fast game with a lot of
opportunities and a lot of goals. In the second period one of the Slovak goals was not accepted.
On the Slovak side the best player was Marek Svatos, his performance on this tournament is just
great. Whole 2nd line plays great hockey and this tie ment that Slovakia won the Group A and in
the next round they will play against Switzerland. USA will face Russia.

Group B

Russia – Switzerland 4:0

It seemed as the Russians are over the crisis that they faced in the game against Finland. They
played solid hockey and didn’t allow any serious scoring opportunities to the Swiss players.
After the game there was a fight, as a result Alexander Svitov is suspended for two games,
Russian head coach Plyuschev for one game, probation for the next game goes to Sergei Soin,
Igor Grigorenko, Andrei Taratukhin and Beat Forster. Head coach of team Switzerland
Jakob Kolliker became a warning.

Finland – Canada 4:1

The Canadian selectino couldn’t manage to cope with the Finnish play and they recorded the first
loss on this tournament. During this game there was a dominant line in the center with Immonen
on the wings with Jokinen and Koivisto on the Finnish team. In the next round the Finns will face
Czechs and the Canadian team will play against Sweden.
