The latest edition of Inside the CHL will be available at the official website of the Canadian Hockey League, www.chl.ca, on Friday afternoon.
Inside the CHL is a look around the Canadian Hockey League, the largest hockey league in the world. The show is posted at www.chl.ca. and is also heard on junior hockey radio broadcasts across the country.
On Edition number 5, host Roger Lajoie previews the upcoming Hershey Cup CHL All-Star Series of Games, along with the Home Hardware CHL Top Prospects Game as well. CHL commissioner David Branch is among the guests on the show, which CHL radio stations are invited to download and use during their intermissions.
Inside the CHL is produced every two weeks, with the next edition after Friday’s available Friday, Jan. 25.
WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE
There are five games in the WHL on Wednesday night. Saskatoon is at Calgary, Prince Albert travels to Lethbridge, Medicine Hat is at Red Deer, Kelowna is at Spokane and Prince George (8) plays in Brandon.
There were two games in the WHL Tuesday night as Medicine Hat doubled Prince Albert 6-3 and Portland beat Vancouver 6-3.
At Medicine Hat, Ben Thomson scored two goals and added two assists to lead Medicine Hat to victory. Joffrey Lupul added two goals and one assist to the winners’ attack, while Jeremy Colliton had one goal and one assist for the losers. Sean Connors made 28 saves in goal for Medicine Hat.
At Vancouver, Josef Balej scored three goals to lead Portland to its win. Rob MacGregor scored his first two goals of the season for the winners while Marian Havel added one goal and one assist for the losers.
ONTARIO HOCKEY LEAGUE
There are three games in the OHL on Wednesday night. Kingston plays at Belleville, Guelph travels to Erie and Toronto St. Michael’s plays at Mississauga.
There was just one game on the OHL schedule for Tuesday night as the London Knights knocked off the Kitchener Rangers 4-2.
At Kitchener, Rick Nash and Daniel Bois both had one goal and one assist to lead the Knights to their win. Derek Roy had both of the Kitchener goals while Chris Houle made 34 saves in goal for London.
QUEBEC MAJOR JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE
There are two games in the QMJHL on Wednesday night. Moncton plays in Halifax and Baie-Comeau travels to Montreal.
On Tuesday in the QMJHL, Drummondville defeated Rouyn-Noranda 9-4, Victoriaville defeated Rimouski 9-5, Acadie-Bathurst (1) got by Hull 4-3 in overtime, Cape Breton edged Sherbrooke 3-2 and Chicoutimi stopped Quebec 5-2.
At Drummondville, Maxime Bouchard had two goals and two assists to lead the winners, while Olivier Proulx and Frederic Faucher both had one goal and three assists. Marc-Andre Binette had two goals and one assist for the losers while Mathieu Bastien added a pair of goals.
At Victoriaville, Matthew Lombardi had one goal and four assists for the Tigres while Pierre-Luc Sleigher added a hat trick for the winners. Michel Ouellet scored two goals and one assist for Rimouski while Marc-Antoine Pouliot and Jean-Francais Ploudre both had one goal and one assist.
At Acadie-Bathurst, Antoine Bergeron scored two goals and two assists for the top-ranked Titan, while Simon St. Pierre scored a pair of goals, including the winner in overtime. Jonathan Labelle scored one goal and one assist for the losers.
At Cape Breton, Stuart MacRae scored a goal and two assists and Pierre-Luc Laprise added one goal and one assist to spark the Screaming Eagles. Drew MacIntyre kept Sherbrooke in the game by making 40 saves.
At Quebec, Pierre-Marc Bouchard had two goals and one assist for Rimouski while Christian Larrivee added one goal and two assists for the winners.
