Hello to all our readers!
Just like the NHL, Hockey’s Future is always growing and adding new features for our readers. Over the last few months, we have added several new features and are planning to add several new things for your enjoyment. To follow is a quick breakdown of some notable news…
2002 Draft Center: Coming in March, our 2002 Draft Center will be launched with a redesign and more information than ever. With our staff of over 30 credentialed writers, this years edition of the Draft Center is shaping up to be the most comprehensive one yet, and we are looking to remain the most informative site on the internet for draft coverage and prospect information.
Assisting Hockey’s Future again in this role will be long-time HF contributor “The Prospect Advisor”. Glen Gawronski and his staff of 8 professional scouts will provide us with their Draft Rankings on a regular basis. As the draft gets closer, these ranking will be updated for all the leagues and will be readily placed on HF’s front page. For information on subscribing to the monthly newsletter Prospect Advisor, click on the link and drop them a line.
In addition, Paul McDonald’s statistical updates for all the top CSB Ranked players from North America and Europe will be updated regularly and located on the HF front page under the Draft Center Heading. Why search around the internet for these stats when you can come right to Hockey’s Future and get them in one place?
We are also happy to announce the return and support of NHL Scout Stubbs, who was very gracious in writing a very detailed 3 part series of articles that will surely be helpful to the novice fan or to the well-informed draftnik who is looking for a quick answer to those always asked question.

Jr. Team Pages: Hockey’s Future is committed to increasing the amount of coverage the junior leagues receive. We have started the process of launching several of these pages which will give you player analysis, line combinations, useful links and team specific articles. These team pages will serve as a great place to find out about certain players and their play, some long before they get drafted or become free agents. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do!
We are currently reconfiguring the database to organize the players into “birthdate” sections and tying it into our draft center as well. Coming soon over the next few months are more teams from the OHL, WHL, QMJHL, such as Kelowna, Montreal, Kootenay, Kingston, Mississuaga, Portland and more….
Columnists: Over the last two months, we have added two new columnists to the Hockey’s Future family, “Game Misconduct” and “Shinny by the Bay”. Game Misconduct aims to tackle the controversial topics from a Canadian writers point of view, and is sure to elicit some responses from some of you. We are also pleased to announce the addition of “Shinny by the Bay”, written by former radio sports-talk host Rocco Pendola, who has criss-crossed the country and gained some keen insights during that time in speaking with sports fans all over America. Rocco’s column is published every other Friday.
Journalism Students: If you are currently a journalism student and are immensely knowledgeable about the sport of hockey, we might have some opportunities for you. If you are attending college in North America in a town with a minor or junior league team and are looking for some practical experience and exposure to over 250,000 monthly readers, please fill out an Application for consideration and other news about upcoming programs for journalism students.
Since the site was launched 4 years ago, Hockey’s Future has consistently grown in readership and reputation, and we have to thank all of our readers for visiting the site and being just as important as all of our writers. We are committed to providing increased coverage for the junior and minor leagues, as well as expanded coverage of the NHL Entry Draft, tournaments, and grass-roots hockey on all levels. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please e-mail Shane Malloy or Mark Fischel and we will do our best to respond quickly to your ideas, thoughts, complaints, or suggestions.
Thanks for your support!
