HF’s Draftee of the Month

It’s the battle between Dennis Seidenberg and Christian Ehrhoff. Both players developed to core players in their team and received important ice time. Power play and penalty killing situations are often situations without German skaters on the ice, but they got much opportunities during this season.

In January, Seidenberg (6 points) outscored Ehrhoff (3 points) only due to Ehrhoff’s eye injury. Ehrhoff sat out the about first half of January. Besides, draftees who should be noticed are Christoph Schubert, Erich Goldmann and Stefan Schauer. All three boys are defensemen and Senators’ picks. These guys are one step better than last season.

Previous winners
September: Dennis Seidenberg (Adler Mannheim/DEL)
October: Dennis Seidenberg (Adler Mannheim/DEL)
November: Christian Ehrhoff (Krefeld Pinguine/DEL)
December: Christian Ehrhoff (Krefeld Pinguine/DEL)

HF’s Prospect of the Month

Yannic Seidenberg, an 18 year old forward from Mannheim, where he plays together with his brother Dennis. Dennis was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers during the NHL Entry Draft last year. And Yannic is going to be drafted this year. The Central Scouting Service listed him on position 38 in the European Skaters Ranking. However, he scored 2 assists in 38 games in 2001. And in January 2002 his stats exploded: 12 games, 5 assists, +4 and 4 penalty minutes. Enough to be the Prospect of the Month. The co-winner is Thomas Greilinger who became the best player of Nürnberg in January. In stats: 12 games, 7 goals, 4 assists, 11 points, +6, 4 penalty minutes.

Previous winners
September: Vitalij Aab (Nürnberg Ice Tigers/DEL)
October: Vitalij Aab (Nürnberg Ice Tigers/DEL)
November: Dimitrij Kochnev (Iserlohn Roosters/DEL)
December: Eduard Lewandowski (Eisbären Berlin/DEL) and Andreas Morczinietz (Augsburger Panther/DEL)

Note: The Draftee and the Prospect of the Month were named by the German HF Staff and various hockey experts. We are going to name the Draftee/Prospect of the season in some months and all readers can elect the winners.
