In a short phone conversation Hyun stated that sickness and injuries played a major role in his short season. Hyun stated that during his stay over winter break in Germany, he was viciously, infected by a bad virus, which forced him to stay in bed for two weeks and regular doctor visits.
With a loss of almost 10 pounds on body weight, Hyun was not able to regain strength quickly and was forced to re-fight himself to a line up. This failed due to groin injuries and a mild knee injury, which kept him away from further competition. This led St. Michael’s head coach Lou di Masi to question the playing ability of Hyun despite after regaining strength and being in shape, which resulted in the not dressing of Hyun.
Hyun was the 4th leading scorer on the team with 21 points (10-11-21), and third in short-handed goals.
During his short stay in Germany, Hyun was able to practice with German Hockey League team Duesseldorfer EG, who currently reside on 6th place.
Hyun is optimistic about the season ahead “I am going to work hard again and look forward to next season”.
