Penguins News:
1/16/00 – The Nailers honored legendary Penguin, Mario Lemieux, and defeated the Jacksonville Lizard Kings 2-1. It was the Nailers’ first sellout of the season and the largest home crowd since 1998.
1/17/00 – Defenseman John Slaney represented the Wilkes-Br/Scranton Penguins in the 2000 Kodak American Hockey League All-Star Classic. As a member of team Canada, Slaney (1 goal) helped his team beat Planet USA by a final score of 8-3.

1/18/00 -Penguins have agreed to open the 2000-2001 season in Japan. There will be a 2 game series, Oct. 6th and 7th, against the Nashville Predators. Also, the NHL suspended Pittsburgh Penguins coach Herb Brooks for two games, resulting from his tirade against Colorado Avalanche broadcaster John Kelly.

1/19/00 -The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Also, the NHL suspended defenseman Darius Kasparaitis for one game, resulting from a major penalty and game misconduct
