All second round series in all three CHL leagues – the Ontario Hockey League, the Western Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League – will be completed by April 17. The three CHL league champions will join the host Guelph Storm at the 2002 MasterCard Memorial Cup, May 18-26, 2002 in Guelph, Ontario.
In each edition of the CHL Daily News (Monday through Friday) right up until the conclusion of the CHL playoffs, the playoff results of all three CHL leagues will be included.
Wrap-ups from all of the games are included daily, along with that day’s schedule of games. There are now 24 teams alive in the hunt for the 2002 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
Starting April 15, a special MasterCard Memorial Cup section will also be available at the official website of the CHL, www.chl.ca.
WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE
There are three games in the WHL playoffs on Wednesday night. Kelowna is at Spokane, with Spokane leading the series 2-1, Red Deer (1) is at Moose Jaw with Moose Jaw leading that series 2-1 and Swift Current is at Brandon, with Brandon leading that series 2-1.
On Tuesday night in the WHL, Kootenay beat Seattle 5-2 to take a 3-0 series lead, Brandon (7) beat Swift Current (4) 4-1 to lead 2-1 and Moose Jaw edged Red Deer (1) 2-1 in overtime to lead that series 2-1.
At Seattle, Nigel Dawes, Adam Taylor and Jarret Stoll all had one goal and one assist to lead Kootenay to the win. B.J. Boxma made 25 saves in goal for the winners, who out-shot Seattle 40-27.
At Brandon, Ryan Craig had one goal and two assists to lead the Wheat Kings to the win. Colin McRae added one goal and one assist to the winners’ attack while Robert McVicar made 26 saves in goal for Brandon.
At Moose Jaw, Brian Sutherby scored the game-winning goal in overtime and added one assist to spark the Warriors to the win. Kyle Kettles made 26 saves in goal for the winners, who now lead the defending MasterCard Memorial Cup champions two games to one.

ONTARIO HOCKEY LEAGUE
There is one game Wednesday night in the OHL. Barrie is at Belleville for game three of that series, with the best-of-seven series tied 1-1.
On Tuesday night in the OHL playoffs, the Ottawa 67′s pounded the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors (6) 8-1 to tie the best-of-seven series 2-2, while the Windsor Spitfires needed double overtime to stop the Guelph Storm 4-3, taking a 3-0 lead in that best-of-seven series.
At Ottawa, Zenon Konopka had three goals and one assist to lead the 67′s to the big win. Miguel Delisle added two goals and one assist for the winners, while J.F. Perras made 27 saves in the Ottawa goal.
At Guelph, Kyle Wellwood scored at 15:43 of the second overtime period to give the Spitfires the win over the Storm, the hosts of the 2002 MasterCard Memorial Cup. Wellwood had two goals and one assist on the night, while Steve Hildenbrand scored twice for Windsor. Scott Rozendal had one goal and one asssit for Guelph, while Cory Campbell made 51 saves in goal for Windsor.

QUEBEC MAJOR JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE
There are four games in the QMJHL on Wednesday night. Shawinigan (5) is at Drummondville, with Shawinigan leading that series 2-1; Halifax is at Cape Breton, with Cape Breton leading that series 2-1; Acadie-Bathurst (2) is in Quebec, with the Titan leading that series 3-0 and Hull is at Victoriaville, with Victoriaville leading that series 2-1.
On Tuesday night in the QMJHL playoffs, Cape Breton downed Halifax 3-2, Drummondville beat Shawinigan 4-3 and Victoriaville stopped Hull 5-2.
At Cape Breton, Dominic Noel had two goals and one assist for the Screaming Eagles while David Cloutier had one goal and one assist before 4,800 fans, to give Cape Breton the series lead. Jason King had two assists for Halifax.
At Drummondville, Olivier Proulx had one goal and two assists for the winners while Alexandre Menard-Burrows had one goal and one assist for the losers. Drummondville narrows the series to 2-1 Shawinigan with the win.
At Victoriaville, Danny Groulx scored three goals to spark the Tigres to victory. Mikhail Deev added one goal and two assists to the winners’ offense, while Jean Morin Jr. had one goal and one assist for Hull.
