On Wednesday night, the Manchester Monarchs host the Hartford Wolfpack in game three of their best-of-five series. Hartford took game one 5-3, but Manchester returned the favor with three unanswered third period goals in game two to split the games in Hartford. The Monarchs must feel confident returning to the friendly confines of the Verizon Wireless Arena, where they complied one of the league’s best home records.
The Monarchs have been led offensively by the line of Adam Mair, Derek Bekar and former first round pick, Steve Kelly. The three have combined for points in the two games and have figured in on five of the Monarch’s seven goals thus far. Team MVP, Joe Corvo, has remained consistent and leads the Monarch’s blueline with three assists.
With their strong home record and the gradual emergence of other players offensively, such as Ted Donato, who has been consistent the entire time he has spent with the Monarchs, and team leading scoring, Eric Healey, the Monarchs have to go into Wednesday’s game as the favorite in the series.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of this series and how the Monarchs do throughout the American Hockey League playoffs.
