Marius Holtet who has played for the Norwegian Junior National Team and in Sweden for Fårjestad Jrs was selected by the Dallas Stars in the 2nd round at no.42. Holtet a 6-2 190 pounder out of Hamar will move up to the Swedish 1st Division (Senior) this season likely for Bofors or Skåre(1st division club for Fårjestad (2 time champion Swedish Elite). Holtet has a solid shoot, nice skating technique and excellent anticipation. It will be a few years before Dallas fans will have a chance to see this kid but it may be well worth it.

Holtet was not the only Norwegian drafted... Lillehammer`s man child defender Ole Kristian Tollefsen was taken in the 3rd round by Espen Kuntsen`s Columbus Blue Jackets. Tollefsen recorded 2 goals and 7 points in his rookie season with Lillehammer in the Norwegian Elite League. Tollefsen is 6-2 200 and has a great willing to learn and adapt to all situations.

Rookie scoring king Patrick Thoresen was not taken in the draft.

Holtet and Tollefsen both shattered the record for earliest Norwegians drafted. Anders Myrvold was taken by Quebec in the 5th round out of Laval(QMJHL) in 1993 and Espen Knutsen(VIF Hockey & Columbus Blue Jackets) was taken in the 9th round in 1990 by the Hartford Whalers. Other Norwegians drafted were among others Vegard Barlie and Åge Ellingsen.
