The St. Louis Blues announced Wednesday that the club has signed 2001 8th round draft pick, Petr Cajanek. The center, who will be given a legitimate shot at making the Blues next season, was given a one way contract at $500,000 per season with a $200,000 signing bonus.

Cajanek, 26, finished second overall in scoring with 64 points and was named MVP of the Czech Republic Extraleague while playing with HC Barum Continental Zlin last season. Cajanek was also the only Czech Olympian without NHL experience

The Blues are also in contract negotiations with defensive prospects Christian Backman and Tom Koivisto and are not expected to come to terms with forward Jonas Johnson.
