ST LOUIS - Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau announced today that the club has signed defenseman Tom Koivisto.

Koivisto, 29, was chosen by the Blues in last month’s entry draft in the 8th round. The 5-10, 195-pound defenseman has spent the last three seasons with Jokerit Helsinki of the Finnish Elite League and is coming off two consecutive seasons where he won the league’s award for the top defenseman.

Terms of the contract were not released. However, initial rumors of the signing stated that the contract is a one-way, one year contract worth $500,000.
