Russian NHL Prospects In The News

New Jersey Devils prospect Anton Kadeikin signed a 3 year contract with the Devils and will report to the team in late July.   The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Colorado Avalanche prospect Yuri Babenko signed a two year contract with Dynamo Moscow.  It is unlikely that the contract will interfere if Babenko earns a spot on Avalanche’s roster in the upcoming training camp.

Washington Capitals prospect Alexander Syemin signed a contract with Lada Togliatti of the Russian Super League.

Nashville Predators prospect Alexander Krevsun lost consciousness during a 10km track and died later that day due to a brain hemorrhage.   Alexander was just 22 years old.

St. Louis Blues prospect Alexei Shkotov and 2003 NHL Entry Draft prospect Nikolai Zherdev are currently practicing with HC CSKA Moscow.  Zherdev was widely expected to transfer to Ak Bars Kazan, which tendered him a lucrative offer.

Los Angeles Kings prospect Yevgeniy Fedorov does not appear to be attending Los Angeles Kings training camp this summer.  The player will likely remain with Ak Bars Kazan.

Dallas Stars defensive prospect Alexei Komarov signed a two way contract with the Stars and will attend the team’s training camp.  Alexei spent the past season with Spartak Moscow and is one of the tallest players in the game standing at 6’6.

For many New Jersey Devils prospect Anton Kadeikin was one of the biggest surprises of the 2002 NHL Entry draft when he was drafted 51st overall while not being ranked by the CSB.  For this achievement, Anton earns the Player of The Week award.
