Detroit's Red and White Game Recap

The Red Wings played their last scrimmage in Traverse City, MI on Wednesday before they shipped out to Grand Rapids, MI after a brief practice Thusrday morning.
The players were split into two teams, Red and White. Curtis Joseph started in goal for the Red team and Manny Legace started for the White team.
Legace had to come up with a big save two minutes into the game when Sean Avery made a pass from behind the net to Tim Verbeek. Verbeek took a slapshot from just a few feet in front of the net. Legace made a save with his right shoulder.
Stacy Roest scored first for the White team, putting the puck past Joseph four minutes into the game. Mark Mowers had the assist.
Fifty-eight seconds into the second period Henrik Zetterberg shot the puck high over a sprawling Legace tying the game up.
Roest scored again on Joseph seven minutes and 39 seconds into the second period with a wrist shot over Joseph's glove.
The goalies were changed half way through the second period. Joey MacDonald replaced Joseph for the Red team. Marc Lamothe replaced Legace for the White team.
Two minutes later Danny Groulx scored on macDonald. Tomas Holmstrom was standing in front screening MacDonald as Sheldon Brookbank tried to move him out of the way when Groulx shot the puck. MacDonald never saw the puck till it was in the net.
Igor Larionov scored with eight minutes left in the third period putting Team White up four to one.
With 2:14 seconds left in the game Team Whit's Mark Jerant received a penalty for tripping. Team Red pulled MacDonald from the net giving them a six on four advantage. Team Red was not able to convert on the power play.
Chris Chelios scored in the open net with six seconds left to go in the game.
Team White defeated Team Red with a final score of five to one.
Sixteen players were released from training camp. Eight were sent back to their junior clubs the other eight were release outright.
Those sent to Juniors were Tomas Fleischman, Derek Meech, Francois Senez, Nick Pannoni, Logan Koopmans, Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu, Drew MacIntyre, and James Cuddihy.
Those released from the Red Wings organization were tryouts Pat Brush,
Aaron Van Leusen, Joel Ward, Joey Hope, Matt Hubbauer, Nate Kiser,
Thatcher Bell, and Chad LaRose.
