By Rick Davis

—Junior & College Leagues—

Maxime Daigneault, G, Val d’Or (QMJHL) – 2 games, 1 win, 0 losses, 1 tie, 2.88 GAA, .891 save %
Maxime also picked up an assist in his first game back in the Q.

Jevon DeSautels, LW, Spokane (WHL) – 1 game, 0 goals, 1 assist, -1, 6 PIM
Jevon picked up a couple of roughing minors and an interference minor in his first WHL game this year, as well as notching a secondary assist.

Petr Dvorak, C, Regina (WHL) – 3 games, 1 goal, 0 assists, -1, 0 PIM
After a relatively nondescript camp with Washington, Petr came through with a bang as he scored a power play goal in his first ever WHL game.. Earned third star in that game. By all accounts, he should be a very effective offensive player once he gets used to the North American style of hockey.

Owen Fussey, RW, Calgary (WHL) – reassigned 9/22/02 back to Calgary, missed first two games
Congratulations to Owen who recently signed a three year deal with Washington.

Rob Gherson, G, Sarnia (OHL) – 2 games, 1 win, 1 loss, 0 ties, 2.00 GAA, .900 save %
Rob was named third star of the game in his second game against Saginaw.

Marian Havel, C, Vancouver (WHL) – 2 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, -1, 4 PIM
Marian’s goal came as a rebound after he went hard to the net on an even strength play against Tri Cities. His assist was a secondary power play assist during the same game.

Derek Krestanovich, C, Moose Jaw (WHL) – 0 games
Derek has mono and did not attend Washington’s rookie camp or main camp, or Moose Jaw’s camp. He is listed as being out indefinitely.. I had heard that Moose Jaw was hoping he would be ready in time to start the season, but that was not the case.. Hopefully he feels better soon.

Joni Lindlof, LW, Kelowna (WHL) – 2 games, 1 goal, 0 assists, even, 6 PIM
Has been really showing off his hands up in Kelowna, he scored a on a beautiful wrist shot high glove side on the power play in his first WHL game, and has been seeing time on the penalty kill as well.

Jeff Lucky, RW, Spokane (WHL) – 1 game, 0 goals, 0 assists, -1
Didn’t start of as “luckily” as some of the other prospects, he accidentally deflected the puck into his own net (which ended up being the game winner) in his first WHL game of the season. Also picked up a roughing minor in that game.

Matt Maglione, D, Princeton (ECAC) – 0 games
Princeton’s season starts with exhibition games on 10/23/02.

Nathan Paetsch, D, Moose Jaw (WHL) – 3 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, -1, 2 PIM
Had a primary assist and scored the game tying goal within the final four minutes so that Moose Jaw could tie Red Deer 3-3 last Wednesday.

Patrick Wellar, D, Portland (WHL) – 2 games, 1 goal, 0 assists, +1, 0 PIM

Some of these are incomplete because I am still in the process of figuring out where everyone has gone and updating my links. Don’t worry, it will get better.
