Canadiens’ prospects update

Duncan Milroy -RW (Drafted-01(2/37))

Milroy, the captain of the Kootenay Ice, scored 1 goal through 2 game since our last update. Overall, the 19-year-old has played 4 games. He has 6 points (4-2-6) to go along with an even plus/minus and no minutes in penalties. The 6’0″, 198-lbs right winger’s point total leads the Ice, while 2 of his goals were scored on the powerplay.

Olivier Michaud -G (Free Agent-2001(3-y contract))

Shawinigan’s Olivier Michaud was returned to his junior club on September 18th. The 5’10’, 163-lbs goalie has struggled so far this season while playing on a poor defensive team. Through 3 games the 19-year-old has a 5.63 GAA, and an .854 save percentage. He’s averaged 37 shots against through his first 3 starts.

Michael Lambert -F (Drafted-02(4/99))

Lambert cooled off after a strong opening to the season. He scored 2 goals through 3 games since our last update. Both his goals came during a 6-2 win over Cape Breton on September 30th. Overall, the 6’2″, 182-lbs forward has played 7 games. He has 7 points (5-2-7), and is plus-3 with 2 minutes in penalties. One of his goals was scored on the powerplay, while another was scored short-handed.

Jonathan Ferland -RW (Drafted-02(7/182))

Acadie Bathurst’s Jonathan Ferland scored 12 points through 3 games since our previous update. The 6’2″, 206-Lbs forward’s 8-point game (6-2-8) during a September 27th win over Rimouski matched Jonathan Beauchemin’s 8-assist game in the 1999-00 season. Ferland’s offensive outburst was better than Mike Ribeiro, Marcel Hossa and Eric Chouinard’s career-best 7-point games during their respective CHL careers. Overall, the 19-year-old has played 5 games. He has 15 points (9-6-15), and is a league leading plus-10 with a 6 minutes in penalties. Two of his goals were scored on the powerplay, while another was scored short-handed.

André Deveaux -C (Drafted-02(6/182))

Belleville’s AndrĂ© Deveaux scored 1 goal and added 1 assist through 2 games since our last update. Both his points came during a 4-2 loss to St. Mike’s. Overall, the 6’4″, 210-lbs center has played 3 games. He has 2 points (1-1-2) and is plus-1, with 13 minute in penalties.

Andrew Archer -D (Drafted-01(7/203))

After another strong rookie camp and tournament Archer was returned to the OHL’s Guelph Storm. The 6’4″, 212-lbs stay at home defenseman managed 2 points (0-2-2) through the season’s first 5 games. He’s minus-4 and has 2 minutes in penalties.

Eric Himelfarb -C (Drafted-01(6/171))

Himelfarb has been steady but unspectacular through the season’s first 3 games. The 5’10”, 186-lbs forward has 3 points (1-2-3) and is minus-2 with zero minutes in penalties. His lone goal was scored on the powerplay.

Tomas Linhart -D (Drafted-02(2/45))

Mississauga’s Tomas Linhart is now 5 games into his OHL career. The 6’2″, 214-lbs defenseman has 1 assist and is plus-3, with 6 minutes in penalties.

Alexander Buturlin -RW (Drafted-99(2/39))

Buturlin is still looking for his first point through 6 games with Lada Togliatti. He does, however, have 4 minutes in penalties.

Alexander Perezhogin -C (Drafted-01(1/25))

Perezhogin shows no sign of last season’s debilitating knee injury. The 6’0″, 190-lbs forward has played in each of Omsk’s 7 games this season. He has 5 points (3-2-5) with zero minutes in penalties.

Konstantin Korneev -D (Drafted-02(9/275))

At only 18 years old Korneev remains the Canadiens youngest prospect. His preseason play allowed him to make the Russian Senior league’s Soviet Wings to start the season. Through 7 games the 5’11”, 178-lbs defenseman is still looking for his first point of the season.

Joni Puurula -G (Drafted-00(8/243))

HPK’s Joni Puurula played in one of the team’s 2 games since our last update; losing a 3-0 decision to TPS. Overall, the 20-year-old goalie has a 2-1 record to go along with a 2.00 GAA, and a .929 save percentage. His save percentage ranks as the second-best efficiency rate in the Finnish Elite League. Slightly ahead of Atlanta’ top prospect Kari Lehtonen.

Johan Eneqvist -F (Drafted-00(4/109))

Leksands IF’s Johan Eneqvist returned to Sweden following an impressive Rookie tournament in Hull. Through the first 3 games of the regular season the 6’0″, 183-lbs forward has yet to register a point. He’s plus-1 with 4 minutes in penalties.

Victor Ujcik -F (Drafted-01(9/266))

Slavia Praha’s Viktor Ujcik managed 1 goal through 4 games since our last update. His goal came during a 2-2 tie. Overall, the 5’11”, 190-lbs winger has played 6 games. He has 2 goals, and is plus-1 with 6 minutes in penalties.

Vadim Tarasov -G (Drafted-99(7/196))

Tarasov will play the upcoming season with Metallurgist HK. The 5’11”, 187-lbs goalie has played in parts of 5 games this season, but has not started any of Metallurgist’s last 3 games. Overall, the 25-year-old has a 2-2 record, a 2.99 GAA and an unofficial .893 save percentage.

Timo Vertala -W (Drafted-96(5/181))

Vertala managed 3 points through Jokerit’s last 3 games. Overall, the feisty winger has played 6 games. He has 3 points (1-2-3), and is plus-1 with 6 minutes in penalties.

Hab you Heard?

-Kim Staal, the Habs’ 4th round pick in ’96 has yet to play a Swedish Elite League game this season.

-Niklas Anger, the Habs’ 5th round pick in ’95 leads Brynas IF of the Swedish Elite League with 3 points through 3 games. He’s plus-3 with zero minutes in penalties.

-Ilkka Mikkola, the Habs’ 3rd round pick in ’97 has yet to play a regular season game. He remains on Jokerit’s roster in the Finnish Elite League.

-Miloslav Guren, the Habs’ 3rd round pick in ’95 has transferred from Trinec of the Czech Extraliga to CSKA Moskva of the Russian Superleague. Through 6 games the 26-year-old has 3 assists and 2 minutes in penalties.
