Canadiens’ prospects update

Duncan Milroy -RW (Drafted-01(2/37))

Milroy picked up 2 assists through 3 games since our last update. Both his assists came during a 6-1 win over Tri City. Overall, the 19-year-old has played 10 games. He has 10 points (6-4-10), and is plus-2 with 10 minutes in penalties. The 6’0″, 198-lbs right winger has 2 powerplay goals and 1 shorthanded marker.

Olivier Michaud -G (Free Agent-2001(3-y contract))

Shawinigan’s Olivier Michaud earned just his second win of the season this week. The win came thanks to a 2-1 win over Hull. Despite the win, the 5’10’, 163-lbs goalie still has some ugly stats. Through 8 games the 19-year-old has a 2-6 record, a 4.31 GAA, and an .867 save percentage.

Michael Lambert -F (Drafted-02(4/99))

Lambert managed 2 assists through 3 games since our last update, and was minus-3 over the same span. Overall, the 6’2″, 182-lbs forward has played 12 games. He has 11 points (7-4-11), and is minus-4 with 4 minutes in penalties. Thee of his goals were scored on the powerplay.

Jonathan Ferland -RW (Drafted-02(7/182))

Acadie Bathurst’s Jonathan Ferland did not play in any games this week, although his 2.43 point-per-game average still leads the “Q”. Overall, the 19-year-old has played 7 games. He has 17 points (9-8-17), and is plus-11 with a 10 minutes in penalties. Two of his goals were scored on the powerplay, while another was scored short-handed.

Christian Larrivée -F (Drafted-00(4/114))

Christian Larrivée was cut by the Hamilton Bulldogs on October 10th. He was given the option of either reporting to the ECHL’s Columbus Cottonmouths or the QMJHL’s Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Contrary to the recommendation of his agent, the 20-year-old decided to return to the “Q”. Through his first 2 games the 6’3″, 195-lbs forward has 4 points (2-2-4), and is plus-2 with no minutes in penalties. One of his goals was scored on the powerplay.

André Deveaux -C (Drafted-02(6/182))

Belleville’s André Deveaux scored 1 goal and added 1 assist through 2 games since our last update. His goal came during a 4-3 win over Guelph, while he managed an assist during a 4-2 loss to Barrie. Overall, the 6’4″, 210-lbs center has played 8 games. He has 6 points (3-3-6), and is plus-1 with 26 minute in penalties.

Andrew Archer -D (Drafted-01(7/203))

Guelph’s Andrew Archer picked up 2 assists through 4 games since our last update. Both his assists came during a 6-2 win over Owen Sound. Overall, the 6’4″, 212-lbs stay-at-home defenseman has played 11 games. He has 4 points (0-4-4), and is a team-worse minus-7 with 23 minutes in penalties.

Eric Himelfarb -C (Drafted-01(6/171))

Himelfarb has been incredibly consistent through the season’s first 9 games. He picked up 7 points through 3 games since our last update, and is currently on a 9-game point-scoring streak that dates back to the beginning of the season. Overall, he 5’10”, 186-lbs forward has 14 points (6-8-14), and is plus-3 with 8 minutes in penalties. One of his goals was scored on the powerplay.

Tomas Linhart -D (Drafted-02(2/45))

Mississauga’s Tomas Linhart was shutout through 3 games this week. Although he has yet to produce offensively, his plus-3 rating is among the team’s best. The 6’2″, 214-lbs defenseman has played 10 games. He has 1 assist and is a previously mentioned plus-3, with 6 minutes in penalties.

Matt Shasby -D (Drafted-99(5/150))

Alaska-Anchorage University’s Matt Shasby managed 1 assists through 2 games since our last update. The 22-year-old finished last season as the Habs’ top scoring defensive prospect (points per game), and will captain the Seawolves this year. Overall, the 6’3″, 200-lbs defenseman has 1 assist through 2 games to go along with 2 minutes in penalties.

Scott Selig -C/RW (Drafted-00(6/172))

Northeastern University’s Scott Selig is in dire need of a breakout season. The 21-year-old was shutout through 1 game since our last update. Overall, the 6’2″, 195-lbs. forward has played 2 games. He has 1 point (0-1-1), and is plus-1 with no minutes in penalties. He’s also managed 5 shots on goal.

Ryan Glenn -D (Drafted-00(5/145))

St. Lawrence University’s Ryan Glenn managed 1 assists through 2 games to start the season. Overall, the 6’2″, 210-lbs. defenseman has played 2 games. He has 1 assist, and is minus-3 with 2 minutes in penalties.

Alexander Buturlin -RW (Drafted-99(2/39))

Buturlin finally contributed offensively, as he picked up 3 points through 3 games since our last update. Overall, the enigmatic forward has played 11 games. He has 3 points (1-2-3) to go along with 6 minutes in penalties. He’s currently on a 3-game point-scoring streak.

Alexander Perezhogin -C (Drafted-01(1/25))

Perezhogin managed 1 assist through 3 games since our last update. His assist came during an 8-5 loss to AK Panther. The 6’0″, 190-lbs forward has played in each of Omsk’s 12 games this season. He has 7 points (4-3-7) with zero minutes in penalties.

Konstantin Korneev -D (Drafted-02(9/275))

At only 18 years old Korneev remains the Canadiens youngest prospect. He picked up 1 assist through 3 games since our last update. Overall, the 5’11”, 178-lbs defenseman has played 12 games. He has 2 points (0-2-2) to go along with 8 minutes in penalties.

Joni Puurula -G (Drafted-00(8/243))

HPK’s Joni Puurula played in part of 2 games this week; losing both. Overall, the 20-year-old goalie has played parts of 7 games this season. He has a 3-4 record to go along with a 2.98 GAA, and .894 save percentage.

Johan Eneqvist -F (Drafted-00(4/109))

Leksands IF’s Johan Eneqvist was shutout through 3 games since our last update. Overall, the 6’0″, 183-lbs forward has played 9 games. He has 2 points (0-2-2), and is plus-2 with 10 minutes in penalties.

Victor Ujcik -F (Drafted-01(9/266))

Slavia Praha’s Viktor Ujcik was shutout through 3 games since our last update. Overall, the 5’11”, 190-lbs winger has played 11 games. He has 4 points (4-0-4), and is plus-2 with 8 minutes in penalties.

Vadim Tarasov -G (Drafted-99(7/196))

Metallurgist HK’s Vadim Tarasov did not play in any of his team’s 2 games since our last update. Overall, the 5’11”, 187-lbs goalie has played in parts of 6 games this season. The 25-year-old has a 2-3 record to go along with a 3.15 GAA and an unofficial .887 save percentage.

Timo Vertala -W (Drafted-96(5/181))

Jokerit’s Vertala was shutout through 1 game since our last update. Overall, the feisty winger has played 10 games. He has 3 points (1-2-3), and is plus-3 with 8 minutes in penalties.

Hab you Heard?

-Kim Staal, the Habs’ 4th round pick in ’96 has yet to play a Swedish Elite League game this season.

-Niklas Anger, the Habs’ 5th round pick in ’95 plays with Brynas IF of the Swedish Elite League. He’s played 9 games and has 5 points (2-3-5). He’s minus-4 with 2 minutes in penalties. One of his goals was scored on the powerplay.

-Ilkka Mikkola, the Habs’ 3rd round pick in ’97 has yet to play a regular season game. He remains on Jokerit’s roster in the Finnish Elite League.

-Miloslav Guren, the Habs’ 3rd round pick in ’95 has transferred from Trinec of the Czech Extraliga to CSKA Moskva of the Russian Superleague. Through 12 games the 26-year-old has 4 assists and 4 minutes in penalties.
