Post Game Report:
Des Moines Buccaneers at Lincoln, 10/15/02 – Early into the game, Lincoln has a 5-on-3 power play which they are are to cash in to take the early lead which holds throughout the 1st period, 1-0 Stars.

Once again, the Bucs start off early in the period short-handed, the Stars are able to cash this in as well with one second left on the power play to take the 2-0 lead. At 8:59 mark Eric Helstedt makes it a 2-1 game with assists to Evan Stoflet and Matt Burto. Jamie Hoffmann ties it up on the power play with assist to Travis Anderson. Period ends 2-2.

1:08 into the 3rd, Dan Irmen scores the go-ahead goal with assists to Chris Porter and Jesse Lindenberg. The game ends 3-2 Stars.

Des Moines Buccaneers at Green Bay, 10/18/02 – This game saw the Bucs over-come two 2-goal leads by the Gamblers. Gamblers take the 2-0 lead early with goals to Kelly Plude and Nate Higgins. The Bucs receive goals from Evan Stoflet, Tomas Jasko (PP) (Jamie Hoffmann and Ryan Dingle)and Ryan Dingle (Tomas Jasko) to make it 3-2 at the end of the 1st period.

The second period was all Gamblers as the re-claimed the lead 4-3 with goals from Josh Hansen and Bret Adams, both goals on the power play. The period ends 4-3 Gamblers.

3:34 in the third, Kelly Plude score again, this time on the power play to give the Gamblers another 2-goal lead, 5-3. Bryce Anderson is able to cut the lead to one with assists to Mike Franks and Kyle Bushee. Around the half-way point, Bob Kenworthy scores a short-handed goal to tie it up, 5-5.

There was no scoring in overtime and the game goes into a shoot-out which takes seven shooters to decide the out-come, 6-5 Bucs.

Des Moines Buccaneers at Green Bay, 10/19/02 – Bucs play the Gamblers for the second time in as many nights. Gamblers take the lead mid-way through the first period with goal to Bret Coburn and assists to Kelly Plude and Nate Higgins. The period ends with the Gamblers leading 1-0.

Gamblers take the 2-0 4:22 into the period. Tomas Jasko cuts the lead in half on the power play with helpers to Mike Neilon and Joel Kitchen. Critter Nagurski gives the gamblers the 2-goal lead at 13:47 mark. The period ends 3-1.

The Gamblers are able to maintain their lead and win their first game of the season 3-1.

Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Cedar Rapids, 10/25/02 – The Roughriders take the lead late into the first period on the power play and take the 1-0 lead into the locker room.

The Roughriders start off the second scoring on the power play just 22 seconds into the period. At 3:06, Marty Guerin cuts the lead in half with assists to Bob Kenworthy and Bryce Anderson. The period ends 2-1 Roughriders.

1:50 into the period Tyler Howells give the Roughriders the 3-1 lead. The Bucs storm back and score three straight goals, Jon Rudnick (Matt Burto), and Mike Neilon (PP) (Kyle Bushee; last goal scored at 10:59 mark. Late in the period, the Roughriders are short-handed and with an aggressive penalty kill that pays off, has the Roughriders score short-handed to tie it up 4-4 and force OT.

Neither team is able to score and go into a shoot-out. Roughriders go 1 for 5 in the shoot-out with the Bucs going 2 for 4 to win 5-4.

Des Moines Buccaneers vs. River City,11/01/02 – Bucs-Lancers, one of the most fierce rivalry in the USHL. Lancers score short-handed and take the 1-0 lead into the locker room.

Halfway through the second, the Lancers take a 2-0 lead. At 15:35 mark, Jamie Hoffmann (Travis Anderson, Ryan Dingle) gets the puck past Dominic Vicari to make it 2-1 Lancers and that’s the score heading into the intermission.

Lancers score twice in the third period to win 4-1.

Des Moines Buccaneers at Cedar Rapids, 11/02/02 – For the third time this season, the Roughriders and Buccaneers meet. For the third time, the Roughriders score first and take the 1-0 lead into the locker room.

About midway through the second, Tyler Howell scores short-handed to make it 2-0 Roughriders. At the 11:01 mark, Denny Reagan (Mike Neilon) is able to convert on the 5-on-3 power play to make it 2-1 Roughriders. Very late in the period, Mike Neilon (Marty Guerin, Denny Reagan) is able to score on the power play to make 2-2 at the end of second.

Half-way through the third, Marty Guerin tallies a short-hander to give the Bucs their first lead of the game, 3-2. Then once again against the Roughriders, the Bucs blow the lead late in the game as Chase Watson is able to score on the power play to force overtime.

No one is able to score in overtime and we go into a shoot-out, which Bucs go 2 for 5 while Roughriders go 3 for 4 and win 4-3.

Pre-Game Report:

Des Moines Buccaneers at Sioux City, 11/08/02 – Bucs travel into 7-4 Sioux City. Muskies pick up Jan Chovan, goal-tender from the OHL.

Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Lincoln, 11/09/02 – Bucs look to revenge an earlier loss in Lincoln to start their winning ways at the Madhouse on Hickman.

Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Lincoln, 11/14/02 – Bucs look to keep on the winning side at home once again versus the Stars.

Des Moines Buccaneers at Cedar Rapids, 11/15/02 – For the fourth time this year the Bucs face the Roughriders. You have to go back to December 2, 2000 in Cedar Rapids for the last time the Bucs have beaten the Roughriders in regulation.

Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Waterloo, 11/16/02 – Waterloo makes their second visit to Des Moines. Bucs were able to beat the Black Hawks on opening night for the Bucs.

Des Moines Buccaneers at Lincoln, 11/22/02 – This marks the fourth time Bucs-Stars meet this season, third time this month.

Des Moines Buccaneers vs. Chicago, 11/23/02 – This is the first meeting against the Steel.
